Kaupapa Māori Advanced Nursing Service (KMANS), Full Time

Te Manu Toroa is a Kaupapa Māori Organisation who delivers a variety of health and social services to whānau in the Bay of Plenty. We are seeking an experienced Registered Kaupapa Nurse with at least three to five years experience and at least three years of those in general medicine in the Bay of Plenty.

The KMANS nurse will assist in improving Māori health outcomes and reducing health inequalities between Māori and Non-Māori. This job opportunity is designed to support people who have two or more chronic long term conditions or have an acute exacerbation of their illness. Clients will live rurally and therefore have additional barriers to accessing health, along with an increased risk of hospitalization.

To fulfil this role you will have:

•At least 3 to 5 years experience working in either an acute hospital or community setting
•Experience working with pakeke, kaumatua and kuia
•Advanced health assessment and management skills in primary health care client care.
•The ability to deliver education to whānau
•The ability to work in primary and secondary services
•Experience and ease working within a tikanga Māori framework / indigenous models
•A willingness to pursue a clinical Masters with the goal of attaining Nurse Practitioner status within 3 years.

We are looking to appoint full time Monday to Friday.

The key essential requirements are:
•Registered Nurse with Current Practising Certificate.
•Post Graduate Diploma
•Current full drivers license
•Preferred experience with Medtech 32
•Understanding of Te Reo me ona Tikanga or a real willingness to learn.
•Connection to local hapu or Iwi
•Good understanding/working knowledge of local communities
•Good networking skills
