Family Start Whānau Worker

Te Manu Toroa Family Start team are looking for a full time, permanent Social Worker or Registered Health Professional to support and assist at risk whānau. As part of the Family Start team you will be working in Kaupapa Māori integrated services in Tauranga Moana. Providing tamariki centred, whānau focused and strengths based services that encourages whānau to make positive life style choices, while ensuring their tamariki have the best possible start in life.

This is an exciting opportunity for a caring, compassionate individual who has great listening skills, and who wants to make a difference in their community and the lives of others. We are looking for a mature person who is respectful of others, and who is culturally sensitive.

You will be required to have a Bachelors / Degree qualification (or equivalent) in either, Social Work, Early Childhood Education or Health and hold a current full NZ drivers license. Experience in care and protection would be an advantage.

Desired Requirements:
• A passion for working with whānau and tamariki
• Can engage confidently with whānau and community agencies
• Has an understanding of practice from a kaupapa perspective or is open to learning.

In addition, experience and understanding of working with Māori and with a diverse range of cultures is a requirement of the position.
